The mission of the Ulster County Industrial Development Agency is to advance the job opportunities, general prosperity and long-term economic vitality of Ulster County residents by targeting tax incentives bonding and other assistance to foster creation and attraction of new business and the retention and expansion of existing business.

Who We Are

About The Ulster County Industrial Development Agency

The Ulster County Industrial Development Agency’s role is to partner with communities to create jobs, attract new businesses, expand existing businesses, and invest in Ulster County in ways that reduce the burden on residential taxpayers and community members.

By offering temporary, performance-based incentives to businesses in the form of a tax abatement, IDAs help projects take root, create jobs that pay a living wage, and generate new revenue streams.

As these businesses grow, they expand the commercial tax base, which reduces pressure on residential property taxes while providing more resources for our schools, infrastructure, and essential community services. The goal is shared prosperity: responsible growth that benefits residents, workers, and future generations alike.

Hudson House Feature

For Co-Founders Paul Seres and Charles Ferri, the rich local history of Ulster County is vital to their customer’s experience at The Hudson House & Distillery. This project, known as The Star Estate, came to fruition in 2021 through a PILOT agreement with the UCIDA. “There is a mutual benefit for Businesses and IDAs. Having a PILOT made the most sense for us when starting out and we love the new leadership we’re seeing out of the Ulster IDA.”

New Paltz Way Hotel

On February 19th, 2025, the Ulster County IDA Board unanimously approved incentives for the New Paltz Way Hotel LLC Project—a boutique hotel set to open at 11 Water Street, New Paltz, upon completion. This 28-room hotel will feature a self-led wellness center, coffee bar, and nature-focused amenities, including bike rentals and a living roof, all thoughtfully designed to enhance the charm of New Paltz’s Water Street Market Shopping District on the banks of the Wallkill River.

UCCRC Approves Bond Issuance for Woodland Pond At New Paltz

On Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Ulster County Capital Resource Corporation (UCCRC) unanimously approved a request from Woodland Pond at New Paltz to authorize the issuance and sale of 23 million in tax-exempt revenue bonds for facility improvements and expansion. Woodland Pond at New Paltz is the region’s only not-for-profit continuing care retirement community.
