On February 19th, 2025, the Ulster County IDA Board unanimously approved incentives for the New Paltz Way Hotel LLC Project—a boutique hotel set to open at 11 Water Street, New Paltz, upon completion. This 28-room hotel will feature a self-led wellness center, coffee bar, and nature-focused amenities, including bike rentals and a living roof, all thoughtfully designed to enhance the charm of New Paltz’s Water Street Market Shopping District on the banks of the Wallkill River. The hotel will blend seamlessly into its scenic surroundings, drawing guests in for a unique nature retreat with easy access to New Paltz’s shops, restaurants, and attractions.
The New Paltz Way Hotel will be located along a key stop on the Empire State Trail, offering guests direct access to scenic bike paths and stunning views of the Shawangunk Ridge. It will also help meet the demand for overnight accommodations near SUNY New Paltz, providing a convenient option for campus visitors. Beyond providing much-needed lodging for the village, this $12 million investment by owners Jesse Haliburton and Ryan Giuliani is expected to create well-paying hospitality jobs and short-term construction jobs that stimulate and support the local economy. Increased visitor spending will enhance sales tax revenue and the county’s 4% occupancy tax while also expanding the tax base through new property tax generation, resulting in significant economic benefits for the entire community.
This project aligns with the UCIDA’s mission to drive economic growth, create sustainable jobs, and enhance quality of life by supporting strategic investments that benefit Ulster County residents. The Ulster County IDA is proud to support this transformational project and looks forward to welcoming New Paltz Way Hotel as a valuable addition to Ulster County’s thriving business community.
